I’m being locked up for “good” on January 27! I need your help to bail me out!
The Muscular Dystrophy Association will be locking me up at the Hebron Banquet Hall in Lebanon on January 27, 2010 at Noon! Bail is currently set at $625 (EDIT: This just got updated to $3k! Not sure why, but it did… lol!). Help contribute to this wonderful organization, and help secure my freedom at the same time! And remember, your donation is tax deductible!
To help out, follow this link! https://www.joinmda.org/MyLockup/MyHomepage/tabid/120812/Participant/tom/Default.aspx
Our donations go towards helping kids and adults with Muscular Dystrophy in our community, and every little bit helps!

And if you don’t have a credit card (the website requires one for donations), you can make donations directly to me through PayPal! Just send your donation to payments@cornettphotography.com. Be sure to leave a note that says what it’s for!

Well I’m just about off to bed. It’s 12:13am, and I should have been in bed an hour ago… haha… Anyway, I just thought that I might was well share some of my thoughts from today.
First of all, over the past couple of months, Bob and I received a few requests from other photographers (some local, some not so local). We’ve gotten requests ranging from “can you teach me your lighting techniques” to “can I join you guys in the studio as a second shooter”. The way I see it is that if our peers are coming to us with questions like this, then they must really respect our work (or maybe they think they’re better and they want to take our clients, but I prefer the former thought… haha). It really makes me feel good about my work when my peers compliment me. It’s always much harder to impress another professional photographer, than it is to impress a client.
Secondly, I’ve noticed that other photographers have tried to “mimic” some of my shots and styles in photos of their own. While this is kind of irritating, I can still see it as a compliment of my work. I enjoy coming up with ideas for shots. It’s the creative part of me being let out… kinda like letting your inner child loose on the playground. But I come up with those ideas for me, and for my clients, not for other photographers. I take pride in knowing that everyone that walks out of my studio has something unique… but when another photographer copies it, it’s no longer unique.
Now I can’t really do anything about this since my work is out there for everyone to see; and I’m not about to stop posting my work… you guys might start yelling at me! lol! So since I can’t do anything about it, I might as well embrace it, right?
Haha… so anyway, to my peers, thanks for all the indirect compliments! I appreciate it, and I have to say, I’m flattered!
ahhhh… off to bed….

So this past Saturday at Megan & Jeremy’s wedding, I lost one of the rubber covers that cover the PC port on my 1D Mk III. Normally, I probably wouldn’t care. But it’s part of the weather sealing of the camera, and I LOVE shooting out in the rain… So I was on a mission to find a replacement. I searched all over the internet, and came up with absolutely NOTHING. Finally, I stumbled upon the phone number for Canon USA Parts (723-521-7230 for any of you that need that number). I wasn’t sure if they would sell me parts or not since I’m not an authorized service center, but I figured I would give it a try. I called… no more than 3 minutes (and $8.78) later, I was off the phone with the part being shipped to me… I didn’t even need the part number. The service was world class, and the lady was polite and very helpful! Certainly can’t beat that!!

Ok folks! We have some very major changes happening to the studio! My good friend, who also happens to be another photographer, and I are joining forces to give you all the ABSOLUTE BEST photography experience you’ll ever have! Bob Bossinger of Bossinger Photography and I partnering up! We’ll be operating out of the same studio that I’m currently in, located at 30 E Main St, in Annville, under the name of “Living Light Studio & Gallery”. But don’t worry! You still have Tom Cornett Photography, and you still have Bossinger Photography! Only now we’ll be working together to provide our clients with the best product and service you’ll find in the Lebanon, Lancaster, and Hershey area! Both Bob and I bring many skills and talents to the table, and it benefits YOU! Together we have many plans for the studio, so keep an eye on things! They’ll be changing fast! And don’t worry! For those of you who are previous clients, and those that have already signed on with Tom Cornett Photography, or with Bossinger Photography, you have nothing to worry about! You’ll STILL have the photographer you chose, you’ll STILL get the same great service, and you’ll STILL get the same great photographs!
